On October 31, China Railway Guangzhou Engineering Group and China Railway Hi-Tech Industry completed the main structure of the world’s longest ballastless track cable-stayed bridge, part of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, with the closure of the Dongping Waterway Cable-Stayed Bridge in Foshan.
Located across Foshan’s Nanhai, Sanshui, and Gaoming districts, the Foshan Grand Bridge spans 15.652 kilometers and integrates various complex bridge types, earning it the nickname “Bridge Museum.”The recently completed 725-meter Dongping Waterway Bridge, with a 350-meter main span and dual-tower, dual-cable steel-concrete design, is engineered for speeds up to 350 km/h.
Extending from Guangzhou to Zhanjiang North Station, the 401-kilometer the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway is part of China’s “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed rail network, enhancing connections within Guangdong Province. Once operational, it will reduce travel time between Guangzhou and Zhanjiang to 90 minutes.
